STEM Racing National Finals
Over the past few days our two F1 teams have been competing at the STEM Racing National Finals in Rotherham. An initial 1000 teams from around the country started the challenge this year and the top 75 made it through to the finals.
In the Development Class our new team Nemesis finished on the podium in second place. They were nominated for several awards and won the Team Identity Award. Tilly W also won the prestigious Girls into Motorsport trophy. This trophy is awarded to one special girl each year and usually has a big impact on their future careers. Tilly has already been invited to spend the day at Redbull Racing with Hanna Schmitz, the principal strategy engineer. Fingers crossed Tilly will be able to have her Y10 work experience there as well - and maybe take over the racing team later down the line.
The Year 9 Team: Nemesis: Imogen D - Team Manager, Tilly W, Florence G, Seb W, Daniel B and André H.
In the Professional Class our team Atomic managed one small step up the podium and were crowned UK Champions for 2026. They also became England Champions and won the Sponsorship and Marketing Award as well. As part of their winning package they will be hosted on a private paddock and garage tour at the Silverstone GP in July. You cannot buy a ticket for this tour any more but the organisers once priced the experience at £35,000 per person. Of course they have also now been asked to represent the UK at the 2026 World Finals being held in Singapore later in the year. The last time RMS became UK Champions our team, Britannia Red, went on to become World Champions. For many years RMS has had a fantastic relationship with several schools in Australia and you can bet that this morning they will be analysing the racing and trying to work out how they can beat a team from the most successful school in the UK - and arguably the world.
Our UK Champions: The year 11 Team: Atomic: Evie L - Team Manager, Charlotte T, Helena H, James B, Aiden V.
