Year 10 Computer Science Trip to Bletchley Park
Year 10 Computer Science students started their day with a lively guided tour of the Park, including interactive encryption activities with the tour guide. They continued the day in groups, excitedly discovering all the historical secrets that the park had to offer. They went into the dark huts where the operators would have been writing their daily computations during WW2, and sat at the desks where the manual code breaking originally took place. Limited to only a notebook and pen - some students were astounded that not only did they not have digital computers but a 'typewriter', and even more disbelief with the absence of technology - ie no mobile phones or internet! Giving them new depth to their understanding of the 'digital divide'! In addition to this, they participated in code breaking with a Park professor. Finally, they discovered the future of computing - with an engaging AI exhibition. Well done Year 10s!
