Last weekend, from Saturday 28th to Sunday 29th June, a group of Year 9 Science students embarked on an unforgettable reward trip to Port Lympne Reserve, an experience that combined thrilling wildlife encounters with unique overnight adventures.

The highlight for many was the opportunity to spend the night in the spectacular bear lodges, offering unparalleled views directly into the bear and capybara enclosures. Waking up to the sights and sounds of these magnificent animals was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Throughout their stay, students had ample time to explore the expansive zoo and discover its wide array of incredible animals from across the globe. The evening was just as exciting, starting with a delicious meal at the bear lodge restaurant, followed by a cosy campfire session complete with snacks and marshmallow toasting.

As dusk settled, students had a choice of activities: an evening playing board games with Mrs. Lobo, Miss Dowling, and Mrs. Tyrer, or a return to the zoo with Mr. McTaggart and Miss Collis, where more animals emerged as the temperature cooled.

Sunday morning began with breakfast served on their tent balconies, offering another chance to soak in the unique atmosphere before heading back into the reserve. The students were treated to a fantastic Safari Trip, encountering a range of animals they hadn't yet seen, including giraffes! A particularly memorable moment was a close encounter with some of the resident camels.

Before departing, students enjoyed a visit to the gift shop, picking up souvenirs to remember their incredible adventure. The trip back to school saw a bus full of tired but happy faces.

Students were encouraged to document their adventures, armed with the Trip camera, and they certainly delivered! Their photos brilliantly capture the joy and excitement of the weekend. A special thank you also goes to Olivia for sharing the beautiful photos she took, adding to the wonderful collection.

Well done to all the students for their fantastic behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the weekend. We sincerely hope they have made fantastic memories to last a lifetime.
