On Thursday morning it was time once again for the annual RMS
Year 9 Persuasive Speaking Competition, now in its eighth year.

We were thrilled to hear the winning speeches from each Year 9 class, and heard thought-provoking speeches on a range of important and interesting topics, including racism in football, autism awareness, why failure is important for growth, and the shocking 'Shrinkflation' of our favourite supermarket products to name a few.

The bar was really high and it was a privilege to hear our young people speak with such confidence and passion about the things that matter to them. As always, the competition was tough but we are delighted to announce our winner this year is Emily (9W) with her fantastic speech on optimism versus idealism in society. Well done Emily, and well done to the other class winners:

  • Harry (9P)
  • Amy (9Z)
  • Lilliana (9W)
  • Alex (9Z)
  • Kian (9T)
  • Zeenia (9W)
  • Logan (9R)
  • Honor (9X)
