Welcome to the RMS parents teachers association page where you can find more about what the PTA does in school, events you can attend and ways you can help.
We have a very active PTA which has raised around £20,000 each year for the past 4 years. Twice a year we decide where the money should be spent. Last year we refurbished 2 science labs and throughout the year most departments are allocated some money for small pieces of equipment or resources.
More information and services are available from the PTA website: https://www.rmspta.co.uk/
The school’s uniform policy can be found here.
New uniform items can be ordered directly from the PTA online shop: https://www.rmspta.co.uk/uniforms/
GCSE PE uniform items can be ordered via the PTA link: https://www.rmspta.co.uk/gcse-uniform/
The PTA run a uniform service which holds sales at the school at the end of the year for new intake and general sales and then through an order system throughout the year . This is a huge task run by volunteers who give their time freely to run this service. You don’t have to buy your uniform from the PTA but if you do, you will be helping the school as a percentage from each item goes back into Robert May’s.
We also run a second hand uniform rail. Uniform in good condition is sent into the office and one of our volunteers sorts through and washes all items. These are sold at parents evenings and on uniform sale days, plus we have recently introduced a monthly sale of second hand uniform after school, see the website for dates & times.
We cannot offer the full uniform range but its worth looking at if you want spares or you know your child is likely to grow out of things quickly.
We recommend that you sew name tags into your childs uniform. Written names get washed off and if your child does misplace anything, you will not get it back without a name on it.
If you have queries regarding a uniform order or second hand uniform please email the PTA at email@example.com
As well as selling uniform we hold 2 main fund raising events.
In the autumn term our Christmas fair is an event the whole school community can take part in. Pupils run their own games, parents run stalls and the fair attracts local crafts. We only have one raffle and this is drawn at the Christmas fair. We are very lucky to have support from local shops and business and last year the combined takings for raffle and fair was around £4,200.
In the summer term we have a very popular Quiz Night which last year raised £2,000.
The other area where the PTA supports the school is providing refreshments at parents evenings and the concerts throughout the year. We always welcome and appreciate new people willing to help.
Want To Help?
Our committee meets twice a term in the evening and the meetings are lively and informative. If you do want to get involved with the school join the committee anytime in the year or if you cannot commit to that but want to help out we always need extra help for events and uniform sales.
If you would like to help out at any events or join the committee please use the ‘Contact Us’ facility on the PTA Website – Contact the PTA – and someone from the PTA will contact you
