Monday 11th December 2017: Robert May’s School extra-curricular sessions cancelled

Following a prolonged period of poor weather, we have decided to cancel most after-school activities today.  This is because of falling temperatures that will affect surface water from 5pm this afternoon. There will be an increase to the risks associated with icy conditions. Our first concern is to ensure that all students and staff are safe on site.

Therefore, students and staff are not encouraged to remain on site after 2.25pm today.  It is better that everyone gets home safely.

However, the following exceptions have been made:

Resourced Provision after school homework sessionthis will be running tonight until taxis arrive at 3:15pm

Late buses: the late bus service (Routes A and B) will be running.  This is so that students who are unable to change their plans to leave at 2.25pm today can travel home at 3.25pm.

Tuesday 12th December 2017

We intend to open and run the school as normal tomorrow.  However, the forecast indicates widespread ice up until 10:00am.  Please allow plenty of time for travel to school.  We ask all families to make their own judgements about whether or not it is safe to travel, according to local conditions. It is our expectation that if school buses and taxis are running as normal, it should be possible for everyone to get into school unless they live in remote or hilly areas. The advice to all is to keep to main roads that have been gritted.

We will update these notices if there are any changes to current and forecast conditions that could affect the normal running of the school.
